NASA’s Europa Clipper mission will explore the characteristics of Jupiter’s moon Europa. Its data will help scientists assess if the icy body has the potential to host life.

A previous satellite mission indicated the likely existence of a salty global ocean beneath Europa's ice, potentially holding more water than all of Earth's surface.

Montreal will become the first jurisdiction in Canada to legislate and regulate on golf course pesticide use after a decision to ban most pesticides at golf courses across the city starting next year. Following a successful 2-year pilot project, the ban aims to encourage the use of low-toxicity alternatives to protect biodiversity and human health. Golf courses, which were previously exempt from certain pesticide restrictions, will face fines for non-compliance.

 A lack of scientists specialized in plant breeding could lead to ‘dire’ food security implications in Australia, and around the world, according to new research conducted across three continents. 

Plant breeding is a multidisciplinary science that underpins the global production of food, animal feed, fuel and fibre.  

Within its efforts to introduce and promote nutrition-sensitive agriculture in the educational sector, the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences (FNHS) and the Lifelong Learning Center (LLC) at Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) in Lebanon held an enriching workshop titled Food as Medicine. The informative event featured NDU President Father Bechara Khoury, FNHS Dean Dr. Jessy El Hayek, Major General Muhammad Al-Mustafa, President of the Food Safety Lebanese Commission Elie Awad, Representative of the Minister of Agriculture Dr.

“Kind, approachable, compassionate, patient, respectful, enthusiastic.” These are just a few of the words used by students describing McGill University Bioresource Engineering Associate Professor Grant Clark, recipient of the 2024 Macdonald Campus Award for Teaching Excellence, awarded at the June 5 convocation ceremony.

 Two McGill-led climate change mitigation projects receive funding from the New Frontiers in Research Fund’s (NFRF) International Joint Initiative for Research in Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Competition. Thirteen researchers receive grants through the NFRF Exploration Competition.
