Battery recall on Lenovo Thinkpad laptops from 2010-11

News

Published: 28 Mar 2014

On March 27, 2014, Lenovo voluntarily recalled certain lithium-ion batteries, which were manufactured for use with ThinkPad notebook computers that shipped worldwide between October 2010 and April 2011. The X200s and X201 models were provided through McGill's Academic Laptop Program and were recommended for use as administrative computers in 2010 and 2011.

Lenovo is offering replacement batteries free of charge regardless of warranty status.

For the list of all models affected and information about obtaining a replacement battery, please see the announcement on the Lenovo website. On that web page, under Automated Solution you can click the link "Determine if your battery is being recalled" to find out if your laptop contains one of the recalled batteries.
