Branch Hours & Access - Exam Period, December 2015

Published: 2 December 2015

24/7 Exam Period Hours

As of December 2nd 2015, the following library branches will be open 24 hours 7 days a week:

Macdonald Campus Library Extended Exam Period Hours

The Macdonald Campus Library will have extended hours from December 5th to December 20th. In addition to regular hours, the library will be open:

Saturdays from 12pm to 8pm

Monday to Thursday from 6pm to 10pm

A McGill ID card will be required during these times.

Nahum Gelber Law Library Exam Period Access

From December 9th to December 22nd 2015, the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of the Nahum Gelber Law Library will be limited to law students from 9am to 6pm Sunday through Friday.

For access, law students need to swipe their McGill ID cards on the card readers in elevators and in access points of the Law Library.

If non-Law students need material from the upper floors during those hours, they can submit a hold request via the library catalogue or ask for assistance at the service desk.

This limited-access policy is designed to accommodate Law students preparing final papers and completing take-home exams. In order to prepare for these exams, Law students need non-circulating materials that are only available in the Law Library and so require extensive access to the stacks on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors during regular service hours.

The limited-access hours were decided in consultation with the SSMU (Students’ Society of McGill University) and the LSA (Law Students’ Association).

Please note, the basement, 1st and 2nd floors will be open to all during opening hours.
