William Osler is McGill University’s most renowned medical graduate and professor. Beloved by patients, students and colleagues, Osler’s passion for the history of medicine and books on that topic, led him to build a collection whose treasures he was delighted to reveal to students, friends and colleagues. At his death, he willed his books to the Faculty of Medicine of McGill, in gratitude to the Faculty for its support of him as a young student and teacher.

A great deal is known about Osler, his life, career and collection, but this display will highlight a selection of books, archives and artifacts that are less familiar and rarely seen.

Curated by Pamela Miller, History of Medicine Librarian (retired), Osler Library
