Description

“Discover & Write From Natural History” was a two-day event that took place on May 4th and 5th 2019 as part of the ROAAr Public Speaker Series. The aim of the series is to promote the materials held in ROAAr units (Rare Books, Osler, Art & Archives) at McGill University. This event was an opportunity to meet and create with poet and essayist Maureen Scott Harris, and to discover the treasures of natural history in McGill's Blacker Wood Collection. Participants got to explore, to engage with other writers, and to write there own pieces using items from the Blacker Wood Collection as inspiration.

Co-sponsored by Blue Metropolis International Literary Festival, supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Council of Canada.

The Blacker Wood collection can consulted in the Rare Books and Archives Reading room Monday to Friday, 10 AM to 6 PM. Contact liaison librarian ann.marie.holland [at] mcgill.ca (L)lauren.williams [at] mcgill.ca (auren Williams) for reference guidance.
