E-IDEA Manager
Nia Fernandez
Nia is an award-winning scholar and speaker, a visual artist, and an advocate for social justice and intersectional inclusion in STEM. Nia majored in Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering, earning their doctorate in the field of regenerative medicine in 2022 from McGill University. In 2023, they voyaged to Antarctica with an international network of women and non-binary STEM professionals collaborating toward the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Nia is passionate about the power of mentorship, community building, and working with students as partners to drive sustainable change. As Manager of the Office of E-IDEA, Nia and their team support culture change through applied principles of inclusive leadership and participatory action.
