Under the coordination of the Faculty Equity Committee, the Faculty of Engineering is leading and supporting several initiatives that illustrate its commitment to a diverse, equitable and inclusive McGill Engineering community.
Empower: Leadership, personal & professional development
Empower is focused on activities that take place outside of class. Conceptually, this is known as ‘experiential learning,’ or learning by doing, and while ancillary skills development may be an added benefit, the initiative is really about helping students develop leadership capabilities.
The McGill Engine, the Faculty of Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship centre, focuses on stimulating technologically-based innovation and entrepreneurship at McGill in collaboration with the McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship and the Office of Innovation and Partnerships.
ELATE: Enhancing Learning and Teaching in Engineering
ELATE is a community within the Faculty of Engineering that is committed to promoting excellence in the teaching and learning of technical and professional 21st-century skills. Its vision is to lead the development of engineering education where teaching is a scholarly act enhanced by evidence-based practices.
