Obligation Ceremony (Iron Ring) Information for McGill B.Eng. Graduating Students:

The Winter 2025 in-person Obligation Ceremonies* will be held at Montreal Science Centre, 2 De la Commune St W on

Sunday March 16th:

  • At 13:00 for Bioengineering, Chemical, Civil and Mechanical Engineering students
  • At 15:30 for Bioresource, ECSE (Electrical, Computer, Software), Materials and Mining Engineering students
  • Followed by: Wine and Cheese Reception

*Eligibility: Please note that only recent B.Eng. graduated students (all 2024) as well as May 2025 graduating students are eligible for the Winter 2025 Iron Ring Ceremonies. If you have any summer courses (including co-ops), the first Ceremony you are eligible for is the Fall 2025 Ceremony in November.

Dress Code: As it is a solemn occasion, semi-formal attire is highly recommended but not mandatory.

Cost, guests and presenters: This year, we’re excited to host the reception at a nicer venue, which means guests will now require a paid entry ticket. February 17 to February 28: Iron Ring Fittings in the EUS Mall

  • Mechanical Engineering & Bioresource – Monday, February 17 / Tuesday, February 18, 10AM – 5PM
  • Chemical & Bioengineering – Wednesday, February 19 / Thursday, February 20, 10AM – 5PM
  • Civil Engineering & Materials Engineering & Mining Engineering – Friday, February 21 / Monday, February 24, 10AM – 5PM
  • ECSE – Tuesday, February 25 / Wednesday, February 26, 10AM – 5PM
  • Make Up – Thursday, February 27 / Friday, February 28, 10AM – 5PM

 

The link to the registration webform for the Iron Ring Ceremony will be provided at the fittings. The deadline to register for the Ceremony is March 2, 11:59 PM.

Iron Ring Replacements

*The MESC office will be closed on Thursday June 5, Tuesday June 24, and Tuesday July 1.
