In addition to the teaching services offered by TAP, which are available to all McGill instructors, several Faculties have dedicated teaching support initiatives, which we’ve outlined below.
ELATE’s mission is to “foster learning communities comprising of undergraduate and graduate students, teaching assistants, and academic and non-academic staff with the objective of enhancing and promoting excellence in the learning and teaching experience in the Faculty of Engineering.” Read more about ELATE and its strategic objectives.
“The goals of Faculty Enrichment and Development are to promote excellence in teaching and learning, leadership and management, and research in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.” Read about their programs and activities.
“The Office of Arts Education (OAE) was established in 2023 to provide in-house teaching and learning support across the Faculty of Arts. Its mandate is to enhance the learning experience for students and provide pedagogical support for instructors in Arts.” Read more about what the OAE does.
“The Office of Science Education is a space for inquiry, collaboration, and innovation within the Faculty of Science.” Its mission is to “collaborate with faculty, staff and students to promote a culture of evidence-based pedagogy within the Faculty of Science.” Visit the OSE website.
“Teaching and Learning Services at Desautels provides resources, support, recognition, and development opportunities to instructors and students. [They] also spearhead initiatives intended to promote and support blended/online and experiential pedagogy.”
