What we do
The Office of Arts Education (OAE) was established in 2023 to provide in-house teaching and learning support across the Faculty of Arts. Its mandate is to enhance the learning experience for students and provide pedagogical support for instructors in Arts.
Program development
OAE contributed to the development of the Foundation Year Program Pilot (FYPP) which ran in 2024-25, offering BA students a more structured pathway through their first year. Watch the celebration of the FYPP and the Arts community here!
Learning communities
OAE is a liaison between Faculty and students, and works closely with AUS on key initiatives such as lending support for the AUS Peer Tutoring Initiative, developing the new Arts Undergraduate Student Handbook (forthcoming module on myCourses), and celebrating the successes of students across the Faculty of Arts.
McGill in Montreal (and beyond)
OAE partners with departments and the Arts Internship Office to provide learning opportunities for students at institutions in the wider city of Montreal and beyond.
Supporting graduate instructors
OAE is working with the Associate Dean (Graduate Studies) and Research Assistants from across Arts to offer more support for graduate instructors across the Faculty.
Policy support
OAE's membership of policy committees includes the Arts PASL Implementation Workgroup, the APC Subcommittee on Teaching and Learning, the Revision of the Policy of End-of-Course Evaluations Workgroup, and le Comité sur l'intelligence artificielle du Centre d'enseignement du français.
