Recently, the Canadian Nutrition Society held its annual conference, where awards were distributed to winners of the society's poster presentations. Among them, two McGill University grad students studying nutrition were recognized.

Ferial Hamdi, M.Sc. Thesis student with Prof. Brittany Jock (formerly of the School of Human Nutrition), won the George Beaton Award for Student Work in Public Health Nutrition and took second place in the Graduate Oral Competition

Shabnam Hosseini, M.Sc. Thesis student with Prof. Grace Marquis, was one of the eight finalists of the poster competition and the first ever recipient of the newly-introduced People's Choice Award for her poster, The ignore nutrient: Calcium landscape in rural Ghana, which earned the highest number of votes from among the delegates.

Congratulations to our McGill participants!

CNS received over 250 abstract submissions which included 227 posters at the on-site poster expo and 29 Flash poster presentations. Of those submissions, 130 of them were eligible for abstract awards.
