Student Success Project

Academic success is not simply about how hard you study. It’s also about learning context. Stress, anxiety, adapting, time-management, and a lack of important study skills strategies are all common causes of academic challenges.

Making sense of our changing world and current learning contexts is a key ingredient in successfully navigating academic challenges. Undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering can get support staying on track with study goals, prioritizing and improving study habits, working with peers, while increasing self-awareness and strategies for general academic wellbeing.

Creating success, especially in the current circumstances, has a great deal to do with how students navigate individual challenges. Enhancing Teaching and Learning in Engineering (ELATE) initiated the Student Success Project in Winter 2020, supporting undergraduate Engineering students identify and better master their learning challenges. This project was built on the foundations of an earlier initiative which included learning workshops and the renowned professor, researcher, author, and innovator, Barbara Oakley, presenting to students in the Faculty of Engineering.
