Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Online Course Policy
Effective Winter 2026
Faculty-wide policy
- Students will be permitted to complete a maximum of 6 credits of online courses taken outside McGill during their time in our Faculty.
- Online courses may be taken during study away, exchange, or through inter-university transfer (IUT).
- Required courses and foundation year courses may not be taken online.
- Students who have completed online courses and intra/inter-faculty transfer to a new program within our faculty that does not permit online courses will have those courses e-flagged (excluded from credit count and GPA).
- Students registered at McGill in the Fall/Winter semester may not be concurrently registered for an online course at another institution, except for within Quebec (IUT).
Program-specific policies
- Bioresource Engineering: No credit will be granted for online courses, with the exception of set B and set C courses. For the Bioresource Engineering Professional Agrology program, online courses are not allowed.
- Nutrition: Online courses may count toward elective credits only.
- Dietetics: Online courses may count toward elective credits only.
- Agricultural and Environmental Sciences: Online courses may be used for elective and complementary credits.
- Food Science: Online courses may be used for elective and complementary credits.
- Concurrent Programs:
- Online courses in Food Science may count as elective/complementary.
- Online courses in Nutrition may count as electives only.
