Phishing scam: "April Payroll Benefit"

There is currently a targeted phishing email circulating asking all staff & employees to verify their email account for an April benefit payment via an included link.  See an example of the message to the left.

Please DO NOT click any links or reply to the message. Delete this email immediately! It does NOT come from a McGill source.

McGill's central websites, published using the Web Management System (WMS), can be accessed using both www.mcgill.ca URLs and mcgill.ca URLs without the www. Which is the correct version? In fact, both are correct.

myCourses login issue? Update your bookmarks

Please note that the correct URL to access myCourses should be https://mycourses2.mcgill.ca. This URL brings you to McGill's ADFS sign-in page, similar to the Office 365 sign-in page.

RESOLVED: Security vulnerability in Zoom (Windows)

UPDATE (April 2, 2020): The security vulnerability affecting Zoom has been resolved.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE (posted April 1, 2020): A security vulnerability has recently been discovered in Zoom when used on Windows computers. This vulnerability may allow cyber attackers to steal Windows account names and encrypted passwords if a user clicks on a malicious link within a Zoom chat while interacting with the cyber attacker.

Phishing scam: "Processing - CRA notification - your refund is now available"

There is currently a targeted phishing email circulating with the title "Processing - CRA Notification".  It says "Processing - CRA (Canada Revenue Self Assessment) notification March 2020 Your refund is now available" and provides a link to access the CRA Revenue Official Portal for your refund.  See an example of the message to the left.

There is an increase in reports of malicious actors using the CoronaVirus (COVID-19) in phishing campaigns and malware scams. Emergency laptop loans during campus shutdown

Emergency Laptop Loans

In order to facilitate staff’s ability to work from home during the campus shutdown, we are making loaner laptops available to those performing necessary functions and activities from home who don’t otherwise have access to a computer. Due to limited supply, only those performing activities essential to the ongoing operation of the University will be considered.

IT Service Desk walk-in centers closed

Due to the recent Covid19 pandemic, all walk-in centers on the downtown campus (688 Sherbrooke St. W., Room 285 and the McLennan Library Building) and the Macdonald campus (Macdonald Stewart, Room MS2-025) will remain closed until further notice. You may reach the IT Service Desk by phone at 514-398-3398 Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and Fridays until 5:00 pm.
