On Saturday, March 28, 2015, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, McGill's Knowledge Base services will undergo maintenance to upgrade the underlying software. Knowledge bases for Information Technology and Financial Services, as well as internal/non-public knowledge bases, may be unavailable during this period.
The upgrade will provide improved support for mobile devices; you will be able to scroll though complete articles on mobile smartphones and tablets.
As of March 16, 2015, the Web VPN service will only be available to access archived online courses in WebCT (Fall 2010 to Winter 2012).
Current students, faculty and staff can access Library e-resources via wireless network when on campus, and directly from the web browser via EZProxy or via McGill's VPN when off-campus.

As part of an ongoing effort to streamline services, the McGill Password Security Questions (PSS) tool was decommissioned on Monday, February 23. While this tool was initially launched with the goal of providing additional security questions and password reset functionality to our end-users, it essentially duplicated options that were already available in Minerva and caused user confusion.
The replacement of a defective UPS will affect wired and wireless connectivity in Bishop Mountain Hall as well as the REZ network in BMH on Friday March 6 at 7:30am for around 10 minutes. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
The Cisco AnyConnect client software, which is used to connect to McGill's VPN, does not work after the Windows update for IE11 is installed. The error message displayed is:
"Failed to initialize connection subsystem".
To resolve this issue, run Windows Update. Windows Update is included in your Control Panel. To check for updates:
Students, please note that the Tuition Tax Receipts (T2202A and Relevé 8), accessible in Minerva and from the Student Accounts portlet in myMcGill, will be unavailable starting at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, for approximately 6 days (till Monday, February 23) to update the forms for 2014.
The Event Capture and Broadcast / AV Streaming service (BCOOL TV) will undergo a scheduled maintenance operation on Thursday, February 12, between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm. The system will be unavailable during this period.
The Lecture Recording System will not be affected.

Mathematica, from Wolfram Research, is a powerful computational software used for mathematical modeling and data visualization. McGill IT Services has been providing Mathematica to Faculty & Staff, and in computer labs across the University for the past few years. Now it is also available to students via the McGill Software site (www.mcgill.ca/software).
