Established in 2024 by Airbus SE to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion for undergraduate students involved in research projects in the Faculty of Engineering at McGill University. Awarded by the Faculty of Engineering to one or more undergraduate students in a B.Eng. program who are participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering program. Preference will be given to students involved in research projects on sustainable aviation.
Stephen Nicholas Barrans SURE Award in Sustainable Engineering
Established in 2014 by Patricia Ferretti, Colin and Shawn Barrans, in honour of their late son and loving brother Stephen Nicholas Barrans, B.Eng. 2013, for undergraduate students involved in a research project with the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED). John M. Bishop and family SURE Awards for Sustainability in Engineering and Design
Established in 2014 by John M. Bishop, B.Eng. 1947 in memory of his family, for students involved in research projects with the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design (TISED) or involved in research related to issues of sustainability and design. Awarded by the Faculty of Engineering, in consultation with TISED, to one or more undergraduate students in a B.Eng. program in the Faculty of Engineering at McGill University who are participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering program. Preference will be given to those pursuing work to reduce society’s dependency on non-renewable resources.
Boersma SURE Award in Sustainable Engineering and Design
Boersma SURE Award in Sustainable Engineering is to be awarded to an undergraduate student involved in summer research with preference to research projects under the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design in the SURE program that have an emphasis on environmental engineering and sustainability. The Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and Design is concerned with finding sustainable solutions to the complex challenges that societies face demanding a concerted and collaborative effort to ensure that the technologies we adopt and the infrastructures we use are sustainable in terms of energy, materials, water, food and the production of waste.
C. William Bradley SURE Award
Established in 2017, through the generous bequest of Sonya Ward in memory of the late Professor C. William Bradley, B.Eng. 1959, MEng 1961. Awarded by the Faculty of Engineering to one or more undergraduate students in a Bachelors program in the Faculty of Engineering participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering program. Preference will be given to students conducting research in the field of acoustics.

Awarded by the Faculty to one undergraduate female student enrolled in the Faculty who is participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering program.
Greg Jarvis SURE Award
Established in 2019 by Peter Jarvis, B.Eng. 1975, in memory of his brother Greg Jarvis B.Eng. 1983, for undergraduate students involved in research in the Faculty of Engineering. Awarded by the Faculty of Engineering to one or more undergraduate students in a B.Eng. program in the Faculty of Engineering at McGill University who are participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering program. As Greg lived his life with Friedreich’s Ataxia, preference given to a student identifying with a motor impairment, followed by those who identify with a major functional impairment (e.g., visual, hearing or organic impairment) as registered and confirmed by the Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD). Should an eligible candidate not be found fitting these profiles, the award is to be granted to an applicant without a disability.

Established in 2010 by Mr. Arthur Levine, B.Eng. 1961. Awarded by the Faculty of Engineering to one or more undergraduate students in the B.Eng. programs in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at McGill University who are participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering program. Preference will be given to students working in any aspect of electronics or computer hardware/software.
