Target Audience: All staff and students required to handle and/or store radioactive materials (open source) must follow this course.
Training:

- Non-McGill student and visitor registrants please complete and submit the Paying Participant Training Form.
Certification: An e-certificate is issued to participants who successfully complete a written examination. Passing grade is set at 80% or higher. Certification is valid for a period of 3 years.
Content: Basic radiation physics; Biological effects of ionizing radiation; Sources of exposure; Dose limits; Radiation protection principles; Environmental surveillance and dosimetry; Radiation safety management; Safe laboratory work practices; Emergency procedures; Useful radiation safety formulae and how to receive and transport radioisotope packages.
Duration: from 9h to 18h
- 7-hours for the presentation (9h to 16h00/16h30), plus
- 90-minutes for the examination time. The exam is compulsory for all staff and students under McGill's permit. Course notes, English-French or English-another language dictionary and a scientific calculator are allowed during the exam. The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice questions.
