Laser Safety Training

Registrations for EHS safety training courses are on hold until October 5, 2020 due to the implementation of a new course registration system. Supervisors have received an alternative registration method. See them if your training is urgent. Thank you for your patience.

Target Audience: All staff and students required to work with a class 3B and/or 4 laser must follow this course.

McGill students, staff and faculty must register online using the EHS course registration system. See the Quick Guide if you encounter any issues. (September 2020 - course registrations are currently on hold)

Non-McGill student registrants please complete and submit the Paying Participant Training Form.

Certification: A Laser Safety Course certificate is presented to participants who successfully complete the written exam. Certification is valid for a period of 3 years. If you have participated in a Laser Safety Course within the last 3 years, you are not required to attend again.

Duration: Live course - 2.5 hours (including examination time), Online course - 1.75 hours (excludes examination time)

Cost (McGill): Free for the McGill Community (students, staff and faculty). 

Cost (Non-McGill): $50 (if paid by PI); $150.00 per person plus applicable taxes for other payment methods.

E-Certification Status: If you read "sent" in the chart below for your course date and you have not received your copy, please ehs [at] (email us), along with the course date and your McGill ID.
