Target Audience: All staff and students required to work with a class 3B and/or 4 laser must follow this course, and to participate in the Occupational Health Program including a baseline eye exam.
Training:
- McGill students, staff and faculty can complete the online course and exam using the EHS Safety Training System - Web Training.
- Non-McGill student and visitor registrants please complete and submit the Paying Participant Training Form.
Certification: An e-certificate is issued to participants who successfully complete the online exam. Passing grade is set at 80% or higher. Certification is valid for a period of 3 years.
Content: McGill Laser Safety Policy & Program, Responsibilities & Procedures, Fundamentals of laser operation, Laser hazards & bioeffects, Laser classifications, Control measures, Non-beam hazards, and Medical examinations & emergency procedures.
Duration: 1.75 hours (excludes examination time consisting of 15 multiple choice questions). An alternative online training video is available here (McGill log-in required).
