Navigating MyLab: How to Access Your Training Modules

 myLab was selected by a user group composed of researchers, lab technicians, staff, and students from the Faculties of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, and Science    

*Note that off campus computers must be connected to the McGill VPN in order to access myLab

Purpose

myLab is McGill’s central system for research, safety and compliance.
Its main purpose is to ensure that all users complete required safety training and that hazardous materials are managed safely and correctly, from acquisition to disposal.

What myLab Does

  • Tracks safety training and certifications
  • Supports safe chemical, biological, laser and radiation, controlled substances, respiratory protection, and hazardous waste management
  • Helps labs meet regulatory and University compliance
  • Centralizes inventories, inspections, and documentation
  • Provides Asbestos Training and serves as the platform for the Asbestos Web Database.

myLab Training and Resource Modules:

Learn how to access your trainings through myLab page on the McGill Knowledge base (training guides, videos, course registration and FAQs). Note that you will need to login with your McGill ID and password for access

Chemical Safety (myLab) module  centralizes the management of WHMIS‑controlled and other hazardous chemicals, covering purchasing, inventory, and waste disposal for McGill labs. It integrates with McGill MarketPlace and MSDS online, giving users access to over 14 million SDSs through their myLab inventory login. The system supports safer research by providing first responders with critical hazard information during emergencies, improving regulatory compliance, reducing over‑purchasing and waste, enabling inventory sharing within departments, and simplifying lab clean‑ups and decommissioning.

The Radiation Safety (myLab) module replaces the RAIR, RILS, and RTS systems and centralizes radioactive material management at McGill, including permits, purchasing, inventory, and waste disposal. It integrates with McGill MarketPlace and supports radioactive waste handling for MUHC‑affiliated research institutes. All McGill labs must use MarketPlace to order radioactive materials and myLab to track their use and disposal. To request access, contact the gurnam.manku [at] affiliate.mcgill.ca (Radiation Safety Officer), with your name, McGill ID, and PI. Your login uses your McGill email and password.
