Target Audience: All staff and students required to supervise, handle and/or store hazardous products must follow this course. WHMIS-2015 training is required for graduate students working in wet labs as well as undergraduate students performing special research projects, participating in the Summer Undergraduate Research in Engineering (SURE) program and/or internship or co-op projects where hazardous materials are used.
Training:
- McGill students, staff and faculty can complete the online course and exam using the EHS Safety Training System - Web Training.
- Non-McGill student and visitor registrants please complete and submit the Paying Participant Training Form.
Certification: An e-certificate is issued to participants who successfully complete the online exam. Passing grade is set at 80% or higher. Certification is valid for a period of 3 years.
Content: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) 2015 training is a legal requirement for all personnel working with hazardous products in Canada. WHMIS 2015 is intended to protect the health and safety of workers by promoting access to information on hazardous materials used in the workplace. EHS' WHMIS 2015 core training introduces participants to the 4 key elements of WHMIS 2015: Classification, Training, Labeling and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
