From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Training Courses

Introduction to Biosafety

  • Provides a basic understanding of important Biosafety principals for all staff and students who will be working with biohazardous materials.  Topics covered include; definitions of biosafety, risk group and containment level classifications, minimum required conditions for working in different containment levels and the consequences when there is a breach of biosafety practices.

Safe use of Biological Safety Cabinets

  • Provides an overview of the function of the different classes of Biological Safety Cabinets as well as the proper use of this important piece of safety equipment to ensure maximum protection from aerosolized biohazards.  An important course for any staff or students who will be working in a Biological Safety Cabinet

Hazardous Waste Management Disposal Training

  • Informative training session provided by McGill University Hazardous Waste Management Team on when and how to access their varied services. 

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems

  • Biohazardous materials are a WHMIS controlled product.  This course is designed to cover the basic requirements for storage, safe use and labeling of all WHMIS controlled products
