Paying your Fees

e-Billing and Your Fees

Your invoice for all your fees will be available on Minerva as an e-bill shortly after you register for your course(s). You are responsible for amounts owing and should verify that the amount on the e-bill is correct. Email will be sent to your official McGill email address notifying you that the e-bill is available to review.

You are responsible for viewing this e-bill and paying your fees on time. Failing to check your McGill email account on a regular basis will in no way constitute grounds for the reversal of interest charges and/or late payment fees, should the bill not be paid.

To view your latest fee information, login to Minerva and follow the links: Student Menu > Student Accounts.

If you have not supplied proof of your Quebec residency, you have until the end of the current session to do so and have your fees adjusted. Please note that you are responsible for interest accumulated as well as any course change or drop fees.

If you have questions about your e-bill, please check your account on Minerva before calling Client Services at 514-398-6200, as the balance on your account may have been updated since the last statement.

Additional information

  • Charges will be billed once and not repeated on every e-bill. Charges billed previously will appear as “previously billed balance”.
  • Each e-bill’s charges will be associated with an invoice number.
  • Payments will be applied to tuition first, followed by all other charges. Payments will normally be applied against the oldest term’s charges first, except where a particular kind of deposit, such as housing, needs to be applied.
  • Students sponsored by external agencies will receive an e-bill on Minerva showing a payment from a third party. The remainder of charges must be paid by the student.

Payment Penalties

Students need to regularly check their account balance using Minerva. See the section on Overdue Accounts at the Student Accounts site for complete information regarding late payment fees and interest payments.

Access to Minerva for the Registration functions will be denied until these debts are paid in full or arrangements made to settle the debt. Students who register in a given term who have amounts owing from previous terms must make payment arrangements with either the Student Aid Office or the Student Accounts Office prior to the start of classes.

Refund Request

A credit balance in your student account is money that we owe you. You may leave this in your account for the next term or you may request a refund.

Refunds are not automatically issued as a result of course withdrawals or for any other reason. You must request a refund on Minerva, otherwise any amount owing to you as a result of a course withdrawal or overpayment will be credited to your account.

If the course from which you withdraw is your only course, your McGill ID card must be returned, as it is the property of McGill University.
