Mac Paddle Shack to open soon

We are excited to announce the opening this summer of the Mac Paddle Shack.  Operated by Athletics and Recreation and servicing the McGill community as well as John Abbott, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue and the general public, the Mac Paddle Shack will offer hourly kayak, stand up paddle board (SUP) and canoe rentals, paddling instruction and paddle board yoga classes.

Canning at Home? Brush up on your science to avoid dangerous pathogens

The list of “bad things” could range from gross but harmless spoilage to dangerous pathogens such as Clostridium botulinum. In the case of botulism, it’s the toxin produced from the bacteria that is harmful, not the bacteria itself, says Brigitte Cadieux, a postdoctoral fellow in McGill University’s Department of Food Science and Agricultural Chemistry.

McGill gets $3M to fund research into cutting greenhouse gases

McGill University researchers [Grant Clark & Chandra Madramootoo] at Macdonald campus in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue got some welcome news Monday when the federal government announced nearly $3 million in funding for research projects that will help farmers cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Macdonald Farm closed to visitors this summer due to construction of new Community Engagement Centre

McGill University’s Macdonald Campus Farm is embarking on an ambitious project to renovate the century old dairy barn into a new centre to welcome visitors to the world of food production.  The only operating dairy farm on the island of Montreal, the Macdonald Campus Farm, welcomes school visits during the months of May and June only.

Campus Highway 20 overpass construction to resume
