The IPN Award for Distinguished Student Engagement

OVERVIEW The IPN Award for Distinguished Student Engagement is open to any student currently registered in the Integrated Program in Neuroscience who has demonstrated excellence in areas such as teaching, outreach, or knowledge transfer.

ELIGIBILITY

Continuing IPN M.Sc. & Ph.D. students returning for full-time studies for the full 2025-26 academic year.

  • Currently Registered
  • Must have held an advisory committee meeting in the past twelve (12) months (this does not apply to students in their first year in the IPN)
  • No self-nominations
VALUE $5,000 Top-up award with the possibility of two 2nd place prizes of $2,500 each.
DURATION This is a prize, intended to be over-and-above the stipend provided to you by your supervisor or by other funding agencies, and will be deposited to your bank account on September 1, 2025.

APPLICATION/MORE INFO The nomination should highlight the nominee’s communication skills, impact on practice or policy, and ability to engage with diverse audiences. It should also address the practical application of knowledge, involvement in community service, and leadership in outreach activities. Additional considerations include creativity and innovation in instruction, student engagement, and the nominee’s positive impact on student learning. Excluding the nominee’s academic and research performance, you may also highlight any other qualities that make the nominee exceptional.

IPN Internal Student Awards

OVERVIEW The IPN Internal Student Award provides $15,000 stipend support for one year to IPN Masters or Doctoral students.

ELIGIBILITY

Continuing IPN M.Sc. & Ph.D. students returning for full-time studies for the full 2025-26 academic year

  • Excellent academic standing
  • Must have held an advisory committee meeting in the past twelve (12) months (this does not apply to students in their first year in the IPN)
  • Must not hold any other external competitive awards (e.g.: Faculty of Medicine, MUHC-RI, CIHR, NSERC, FRSQ, HBHL) of $10,000 or more. If you receive external funding after you have already applied, you must inform us.

Jeanne Timmins Costello (JTC) Studentships

OVERVIEW

Provides $10,000 stipend support to graduate students (masters or doctoral level) at The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital) to proceed with their research or to further their knowledge and research experience in the field of neurological diseases.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Continuing M.Sc. and Ph.D. IPN students who will be returning for full-time studies in both the Fall and Winter 2025-2026 academic year who are in good academic standing. 
  • Students should have held an advisory committee meeting within the past twelve (12) months (this does not apply to students in their first year in the IPN, i.e. Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 entering cohorts).
  • Students who received a JTC Student Award last year are still eligible to apply again this year.
  • Students must not have received any awards external to the IPN (e.g. CIHR, NSERC, FRSQ, RI-MUHC, and Faculty of Medicine) of $10,000 or more for 2025-2026

Sophia Vorias Memorial Prize

OVERVIEW

Established in 2024 by family and friends in loving memory of Sophia Vorias. Awarded by the IPN Awards Committee on the basis of academic excellence in Neurology or Neuroscience to any graduate student working at The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital) or in IPN enrolled in a full-time degree program.
