McGill - UAE Summer Undergraduate Research Awards

Are you an upper-level undergraduate student with excellent grades from the UAE? Are you interested in pursuing cutting-edge research at one of the world’s top 100 universities?  McGill University offers 8-week research traineeships to a limited number of UAE students like you to work closely with a McGill professor on one of their research projects in Summer 2026. Placement as a research trainee at McGill can be a stepping stone on the path to your research career – particularly if you are interested in pursuing graduate studies at McGill. Value & Duration

  • Each selected student will receive $10,000CAD.
  • The research internship is a minimum 8-week research project in Summer 2026. (Starting June 1st until July 27th 2026)

Deadlines

Eligible applicants must complete the application form no later than February 25, 2026.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the Undergraduate Research Award, candidates must:

  • Be Emirati citizens studying at a UAE university
  • Be upper undergraduate students with a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4.0

Eligible fields

  • Faculty of Science
  • Faculty of Engineering
  • Faculty of Arts (only Economics)
  • Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
  • Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences 
  • Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences

How to Apply

  • Choose three projects from the list here.
  • Complete the online application form, application will open by January 8th , 2026
  • Send the following supporting documents to uaefellowship.gps [at] mcgill.ca;
    • curriculum vitae (CV),
    • copy of all university-level transcripts,
    • personal statement, and
    • letter of recommendation
    • Proof of citizenship (passport copy)

Your personal statement should address your research/field interests and how McGill can contribute to that. It should also include why you chose certain projects, your skills and experiences and how working on certain projects will advance your future career. Your letter of recommendation can be from a current professor, or from your university, supporting your participation in this program.
