Funding levels vary by program and faculty. Although most PhD students have a funding package, there are no University-wide minimums. Funding packages include amounts meant to cover tuition and stipend, and in some cases, employment. Stipend, by definition, is an amount paid to a student for the purpose of allowing them to further their own research or other program/academic requirements. This amount is separate from employment salary. Learn about level-specific funding expectations for PhD students or Master's students on the links at the bottom of this page.
Some faculties have a harmonized/minimum stipend policy. Please find them listed below.
- Desautels Faculty of Management (PhD only)
- Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
- Interfaculty Studies
- Biological and Biomedical Engineering
- Integrated Program in Neuroscience
- Quantitative Life Sciences (follows minimums in the FMHS)
