Faculty of Engineering hosts this year’s Trottier Symposium

On September 16th, the Faculty of Engineering’s TISED and the institute l’énergie Trottier (EIT) hosted the 7th Annual Trottier Symposium on Sustainable Engineering, Energy, and Design, featuring speakers Dr. Naomi Oreskes and Dr. Michael E. Mann, with moderation by Dr. Bruce Lourie.

The symposium, made possible through the support of Dr. Lorne Trottier, provides a forum for students, professors, government, and industry professionals to connect with the general public on advancements for sustainability through engineering and design

This year’s theme, “Lessons from a Pandemic: Solutions for addressing the Climate Change Crisis,” investigated what the COVID-19 pandemic could teach us about responding to the climate change emergency.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Oreskes in advance of the event for the McGill Reporter. To read the full interview, see “Naomi Oreskes on the science of climate change and COVID-19 – and those who deny it.

To read Dr. Mann’s interview with the McGill Reporter, see "Lessons from a pandemic: Solutions for the climate crisis."
