Travel arrangements do not constitute a conflict. Students are advised not to make travel plans prior to the release of the Final Exam Schedule.

Exam Conflicts

If you have a mid-term exam and you need to reschedule it due to religious observance, a business-related issue or a scheduling conflict, please submit the Mid Term Conflict Form along with any supporting documentation to scsadvising [at] mcgill.ca at least 2 weeks prior to the date of the scheduled mid-term exam(s).

Students who miss a mid-term exam(s) due to medical reasons must complete and submit the Mid Term Conflict Form with supporting documentation within 2 business days of the date of the missed mid-term exam(s).

Deferrals

Deferrals for exams are granted under exceptional circumstances only. Note that a deferred exam request is not automatically granted. If you are unable to write your exams due to health or any other justifiable reasons, you must:

1. Apply for a deferred exam via Minerva (Student Menu > Student Records Menu > Deferred Exam Application). If you cannot access Minerva, please contact Client Services.
2. Submit your supporting documentation (e.g., a medical note) to scsadvising [at] mcgill.ca as soon as you have submitted your Minerva request.

If your request is approved, your exam(s) will be scheduled during the next exam period and held during the daytime hours. It is your responsibility to verify the exact date, time, and location of your deferred exam. The deferred exam schedule will be available at www.mcgill.ca/exams approximately two weeks before the deferred exam period.

• Exams deferred from the December exam period (i.e. from the Fall term) are scheduled in the Winter term study break.
• Exams deferred from the April exam period (i.e. from the Winter term) are scheduled in the 3^rd week of August.
• Exams deferred from the summer term are usually scheduled in mid-August

You are expected to be available during a deferred exam period to write your exam.

If you are approved to defer your exam, you will receive an “L” on your transcript. If the deferred exam is not written as scheduled, the “L” grade will be changed to a “J”.
