If you are entering university for the first time from a high school system (outside of the Quebec CEGEP system), you will need to complete 30 credits of courses in your first year (known as the foundation year), before completing the credits that make up your major and any specialization/concentration/option.
McGill students completing their foundation year at the Macdonald Campus benefit from small class sizes and a dedicated foundation year advisor.
The courses you need to register for depend on the degree you have been accepted into, as listed below.
Please note that Macdonald Campus foundation year students may register for up to 8 credits of courses downtown during their first year (Fall and Winter terms combined).
