Susan Gaskin

Associate Professor, Civil Engineering (Water Resources)

What was your inspiration for pursuing engineering?

I was interested in contributing to solving water resources problems in addition to studying their causes.  My early motivation was due to the effects of acid rain on lakes and forests becoming apparent as were the effects of widespread pesticide use.

Why is it important for women to be involved in engineering?

It is important to have diversity of people involved in engineering.  If women are not involved then we are missing out on 50% of possible solutions and innovations.

Why did you choose McGill?

McGill is a vibrant university with a very strong and diverse student body.
