Requirements for all websites

All McGill websites and applications must follow McGill's Digital Standards. Failure to comply with the Digital Standards can lead to human rights issues, legal action, and damage to McGill's reputation. The University may also initiate disciplinary or corrective procedures if we see that a site is non-compliant.

Requirements for using the McGill brand

The easiest way to achieve compliance and benefit from McGill branding is by using a centrally-supported platform like the WMS. Many units are eligible for this. Learn more about which platform to choose and how to get started.  

There are several ways to use the McGill brand on a custom or licensed platform:

  • Logo use in content only
  • Partial or shared branding
  • Full branding (independent)
  • Full branding (centrally supported)
