Eric Latimer, PhD

Dr Latimer is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychiatry. A health economist, his research interests have focused on community-based supports for people with severe mental illness, particularly their economic aspects. Evidence-based practices he has studied have included: Assertive Community Treatment, the Individual Placement and Support model of supported employment, Strengths Model Case Management, and Housing First. The latter is an intervention specifically for people experiencing homelessness who also have mental illness. He is currently engaged, as a co-PI, in a CIHR-funded study of high support housing for people with severe mental illness as well as several projects related to homelessness. He has served as consultant to the Québec government as well as research teams in Europe and North America.
