Bike Clubs and Community

Interested in meeting other bikers at McGill? Check out these clubs that offer bike repair services, group rides, and good times.  

The Flat Bike Collective  

Where: Downtown Campus, in the University Centre basement (next to Gerts Bar) 

What: This group of student volunteers will help fix your bike free of charge. They also sell bike parts, and volunteers can advise you on building a bike from scratch or revamping an old bike. The workshop is open multiple days a week on a first-come, first-served basis. The collective hosts several maintenance classes each semester.

Mac Bike Club  

Where: Macdonald Campus, in front of Stewart Athletics  

What: This club holds weekly drop-in repair sessions to help tune up your bike. Additionally, Mac Bike Club runs various group bike rides throughout the semester.

McGill Cycling Team 

Where: Rides typically start near the Downtown Campus 

What: The cycling team organizes group rides around Montreal, and members compete in races in Canada and the US. There are group rides for beginner (30km/h or less), intermediate, and advanced bikers on a variety of routes.

McGill Outdoors Club 

Where: Trips mainly leave near the Downtown Campus  

What: The MOC runs many different adventure trips, including bike trips in the Fall semester. The routes change each year and vary in length, but at least one goes to the MOC House in Prévost, QC.
