McGill Workshop for the Upcoming Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) – Innovation Fund (IF) 2027: Understanding the Requirements of Streams 1 & 2 versus Stream 3
The CFI IF provides funding to support the full spectrum of research activities—from fundamental and applied research to technology development—by investing in large-scale infrastructure that enables world-class research and innovation.
The IF 2027 competition is expected to include three streams as in the IF 2025:
- Stream 1: Open
- Stream 2: Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts (SSHA)
- Stream 3: Core Facilities
The competition is anticipated to launch in early 2026, with full proposals due in early winter 2027. To support early preparation and proposal development, the Office of the Vice-President (Research and Innovation) (OVPRI) will host a series of in-person, interactive workshops highlighting the distinctions between the three streams and their respective requirements. Participation will be limited to 15 attendees per session, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Researchers are encouraged to register early to reserve a spot.
