AMURE message to research supervisors

Published: 14 May 2013

McGill Human Resources has asked Research and International Relations to relay updates on the University’s negotiations with AMURE, the union representing research associates and assistants.

Please see the following message and share the information as you deem appropriate. If you have questions, please contact Human Resources at 514-398-4747 or hr.hr [at] mcgill.ca.

As you know, both AMURE collective agreements were signed on April 24. Article 9.12 of the collective agreement refers to the rules of holding a general assembly. More specifically, the article mentions that “the University shall encourage the research supervisors to allow employees to be away from work to attend the general assembly …”.

We have been informed by AMURE’s president that there will be a general assembly of AMURE on May 22. Therefore, we ask that you please encourage your research supervisors to allow employees to attend this upcoming general assembly, which will be held between noon and 2:00 p.m. Arrangements should be made between the supervisor and the employee to catch up on time spent to attend the meeting.

The collective agreement stipulates that there can be no more than two general assemblies per year.

We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
