A fast way to showcase your research: a new, ready-to-customize website template

McGill Researchers - as part of an initiative led by the McGill Web Services team, it is now possible to request a centrally supported website to showcase your research or lab in the new WMS system, complete with a new specially designed, ready-to-customize website template.

Main features included:

  • Attractive, image-based layouts pre-filled with placeholder content for easy updates.

  • A structured, easy-to-edit section showcasing the main researcher and team, with drag-and-drop members into the “team alumni” section upon graduation.

  • Clear sections for publications and news, with the option to highlight key items.

  • A standardized message to display when there are openings for students or trainees.

  • A flexible section to describe your research and share visuals.

  • A quick start guide to help gather content and customize the new website.

Whether you’re starting from scratch or refreshing an existing site, this template makes it easier to share your research.

On a time crunch?

  • Some training is required to manage the website, but several required courses will soon be available on demand in myCourses.

  • You don’t need to manage the website alone (or hire someone). You can request website support to help you build and main your website efficiently.

Ready to get started?

Request a new website by filling out the New WMS site form

When prompted with “On which version of the WMS are you requesting to create the new site?” select “new WMS”, then choose “yes” in the drop-down menu under “use the research site template?”

Still not sure which option is best for you or need help filling out the new website form? Contact the WMS team for a consultation.
