Jack Antel, MD
Le programme de recherche du Dr Jack Antel porte sur l’utilisation de cellules neuronales et immunitaires humaines pour comprendre la portée de leurs interactions sur le développement de la maladie neurologique, en particulier de la sclérose en plaques. Dr Antel s’intéresse à la façon dont les cellules immunitaires atteignent le système nerveux central, dont l’état de l’activité des cellules gliales endogènes contribue à la persistance de la réaction immunitaire, et dont les médiateurs immunitaires engendrent la lésion dans des cellules cibles, à savoir des oligodendrocytes et des neurones et leurs processus. Ces études visent à comprendre comment le système nerveux arrive à réparer une telle lésion.
