From Saturday, Oct. 5 through Monday, Oct. 7, the Downtown and Macdonald Campuses will be open only to McGill students, employees and essential visitors. Many classes will be held online. Remote work required where possible. See Campus Public Safety website for details.

Accessing files & systems

  • Microsoft 365 apps - Install the Office suite - Word, PPT, Excel, etc. on your home computer so that you can work on files saved to Teams/OneDrive/SharePoint seamlessly whether online or disconnected.
  • Connect to your work computer with Remote Desktop (RDP) – Access software installed on your work computer, stored favorites, and systems restricted by IP address
  • Banner INB - How to access Banner INB from home. (Banner INB is accessed through a Microsoft Remote server and no longer accessed directly.)
  • When to use VPN - Securely access McGill systems when off campus
  • Microsoft Teams - Share and collaborate on files with members of your work groups
  • SharePoint Online - Store and collaborate on files within your project/unit, but without the Teams interface & chat features.
  • OneDrive – Cloud storage for keeping your personal files and sharing them.

  • Webex / Webex FAQ - WebEx is the McGill official soft phone system. The application is installed on your laptop and function identically from the office and from home, including the phone number which remains effective no matter which location you work from.
