1Travel coverage outside Canada will be active if the Canadian federal government has not issued a notice to ‘Avoid all travel’ or “Avoid all non-essential travel” to the country where you wish to travel. The travel advisory notices to ‘Avoid all travel’ or ‘Avoid all non-essential travel’ remain exclusions of the IHI contract (See page 15, Exclusions and Limitations in the Medavie Blue Cross Handbook). Please note that to qualify for travel coverage, before departure you must not have COVID-19 symptoms, have not tested positive (or be awaiting a test result), and have not been in contact with anyone who tested positive in the last 14 days.

2For any leisure travel for more than 4 weeks and/or travel in your country of origin, you are only covered for emergencies resulting in hospitalization (must be admitted as an in-patient), up to $2,000 CAD funds per day for all services combined as specified in the Medavie Blue Cross contract. We recommend that you obtain additional travel insurance through the Quebec Medavie Blue Cross website or by phone at 514-906-4923. However, due to the exceptional circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, travel insurance conditions have been modified. We urge any student considering travel, to contact Quebec Medavie Blue Cross directly before booking any travel plans to inquire about travel insurance exclusions and limitations. Please take note that Quebec Medavie Blue Cross is a separate private plan from McGill's International Health Insurance plan (IHI) and you must contact Quebec Medavie Blue Cross.

3The insured can make many trips during a given contract year, for a maximum duration of 4 consecutive weeks per trip. The insured must return to Quebec between each trip to be eligible for an additional 4 consecutive weeks of travel coverage. Please note that there is an overall maximum reimbursement of $1,000,000 per insured, per lifetime for leisure travel benefits. For complete details of Worldwide Travel Assistance and eligible expenses under the Travel Benefit, please refer to Medavie Blue Cross’s Travel Benefit brochure.
