oneCard & oneCard Flex Accounts
What's the difference?
oneCard: Available to all students and residence students not assigned to the Mandatory All-You-Care-To-Eat Meal Plan.
- The oneCard account is active the entire time you are a McGill student.
- Funds are rolled over from year to year.
oneCard Flex: Specifically for residence students assigned the Mandatory All-You-Care-To-Eat Meal Plan and exchange students

The oneCard Flex expires at the end of the academic year in April 2026.
- Unused funds are non refundable and non transferable.

Students on the Mandatory All You Care To Eat (AYCTE) Meal Plan
oneCard Flex account
- the plan is an extension of the mandatory meal plan and allows you the flexibility to purchase food and beverages on campus.
- it is activated on your McGill ID card with $500 oneCard Flex dollars at move-in in August.
- expires on May 3, 2026
- unused funds are non refundable and non transferable
Undergraduate and Graduate students not on the Mandatory AYCTE Meal Plan

- your oneCard account is activated with $600 oneCard dollars at move-in in August.
- unused oneCard dollars are refundable once you leave the university and upon written request to housing.residences [at] mcgill.ca.
Exchange students
oneCard Flex account
- your oneCard Flex account is activated with $300 per semester.
- the plan is term specifc and expires at the end of each semester.
- unused oneCard dollars are non-refundable and non transferable.
Residence students living at Macdonald Campus:
oneCard account
- your oneCard account actived with $400 oneCard dollars.
- Any unused oneCard dollars are refundable once you leave the university and upon written request to housing.residences [at] mcgill.ca.
All non residence students
Activate your oneCard account
Through the secure oneCard Management Site, the minimum buy-in is $50. Payments can be made by either Visa or MasterCard.
When you deplete your funds, you can easily top-up your oneCard account at any time through the secure oneCard website.
