Site Overview

Video: Queen Elizabeth Overview

In 2006, during the transition to the Glen MUHC site, two teams of family medicine physicians from the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Montreal General Hospital relocated their practices to the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex (QEHC). We at the QEHC established an FMG in 2008, transitioned to a super clinic in 2010, and became a Family Medicine Teaching Unit (U-FMG) in 2013 with two residents. This number increased to four residents in 2017 and five in 2022.

We serve 28 000 registered patients and handle 30 000 urgent care visits from unregistered patients annually. Our mission is to provide exceptional, patient-centered care while fostering a dynamic educational environment for our learners. We are committed to developing skilled, compassionate family physicians who are prepared to meet the evolving needs of our community.

Highlights

  • Highly active urgent care clinic with advanced procedure skills, e.g., suturing, casting and ultrasound.
  • Small number of residents allowing for a high resident-to-patient ratio and breadth of exposure
  • Rotations with MUHC sites
  • Opportunities for residents to work in multidisciplinary environments with social workers, nurse practitioners, nutritionists, and pharmacists.
