Refresher safety training exam is mandatory after 3 years of formal training received from McGill University (unless otherwise noted on the certificate, such as Asbestos is yearly, TDG & Fit Test are biennially, etc. ), and for those who need to maintain a certain certification.
An exam re-write is available for those who did not receive a passing grade.

Refresher/Re-write Online Exams
A refresher or rewrite online exam is currently only available for the following eleven courses/certifications using the EHS Course Registration System - Web Training:

- Laser Safety
- Introduction to Biosafety
- Safe Use of Biological Safety Cabinets
- Hazardous Waste Management
- Cannabis
- Asbestos
- Fit Test
- N95
- TDG Class 6.2 Category B Biohazardous Materials (subject to approval by an EHS Biosafety Officer)
- Radiation Refresher (may require an approval from EHS Radiation Safety Officer)
In-Person Exams, including Refresher and Re-write
To arrange an appointment to take an in person exam, please contact us, via our online service , office ehs [at] mcgill.ca (subject: In%20person%20exam) (email), or using this online form; must "login" (refer to top/yellow bar) and propose dates/times.
A refresher or re-write in-person exam is available for those who (1) can't access the online platform, (2) prefers to challenge a paper version, (3) prefers a French version if available, or (4) when no online version exist.
- TDG Class 6.2 Category A Biohazardous Materials (subject to approval by an EHS Biosafety Officer)
- TDG Type A Package (Radiation) (subject to approval by an EHS/Hazardous Waste Officer)
- Radiation Safety, noting that it consists of 50 questions [idem as first certification]. You may prefer to do the online exam [consisting of 15 questions].
To register for an in-person exam, follow these instructions:
- To access the form to register for an in person exam, you must login to view the form (refer to top/yellow bar) which will be automatically emailed to ehs [at] mcgill.ca (EHS).
- To review the course materials in advance, please download the course notes. When not available, they will be sent by email.
- During the in-person exam, participants are allowed to consult their course notes (both paper and electronic versions are allowed).
- You can obtain multiple certifications at once if needed [i.e. you can write more than one exam, if time allows].
