For Windows

1. Install the latest version of R; during installation leave all defaults as is.
2. Install Rtools.
3. Install RStudio Desktop.

For Mac

1. Install XQuartz before you install R and restart your computer.
2. Install the latest version of R; during install leave all defaults as is.
3. Install RStudio.

For Linux

1. Install the latest version of R.
2. Install RStudio Desktop.
