Em Grisdale is a doctoral student in Art History under the supervision of Dr. Chriscinda Henry. Specializing in the art and material culture of the late medieval and early modern periods, their research examines the circulation of textiles across Eurasia. They are interested in the dynamics of embodied material encounters within imperial contexts, mechanisms of trans-cultural exchange, and the worlds that textiles make.
Prior to entering the Ph.D program, Em earned their BA in Early Modern Studies and English from the University of King’s College and their MA in Art History from McGill. Their MA research was supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council’s Canada Graduate Scholarship - Master’s (CGS-M).
