These groups and workshops will give you tools to support your well-being and connect you to peers, no matter where you are this Fall. And don't forget to check out our On-Demand Programming, which is pre-recorded and available to watch whenever it suits you best!

You must consult with a clinician (mental health professional, nurse, medical doctor, Access Advisor, LWA, etc.) to register for group therapy.

Group Therapy is available on a limited basis during the COVID-19 closures. You can be referred to group therapy through a healthcare professional. To learn more about setting up an appointment with a healthcare professional, please visit the Access Virtual Services page.

Interested in improving your communication skills? Join us for this workshop to develop an understanding of what active listening consists of and how it can be practiced. This workshop will focus on defining what active listening is and isn't, explaining why active listening is both important and useful, and practicing active listening.

The Body Project

Would you like to learn skills to improve your body image?

The Body Project is two 2-hour peer-led body acceptance sessions delivered in a group format, open to all McGill students. 

 When: Thursday November 26 & December 3  6:00 p.m. -  8:00p.m.  (Please plan on attending both sessions)

COVID-19 Information Sessions

Overwhelmed with the amount of information available about COVID-19? Join our info-session hosted by a nurse from the Student Wellness Hub. In this session our nurse will cover the basics of COVID-19, explain terms like physical distancing and self-isolation, and answer some frequently asked questions.

If you’d like to send in questions ahead of time, reach out to us on our Facebook or Instagram pages and our Peer Health Ambassador team can share your question with our nursing team.

Cultivating a Positive Body Image

We are living in unprecedented times; our routines have been disrupted, we have been isolated and there is uncertainty as we move toward a 'new normal'. This 2-hour interactive workshop will address these challenges as they relate to body image. A body positive framework will be introduced as a way of developing a more positive relationship with our bodies and body image. Body positive strategies and resources will be discussed and provided.

Exercise For Wellness

Getting Sound Sleep

This workshop is intended for students who have difficulty falling or staying asleep at night due to anxiety or low mood, and who face difficulty during the day as a result of poor sleep. Helping A Friend Workshop Q & A

HPV Information Session

Do you want to learn more about HPV and how to protect yourself? The Student Wellness Hub will be holding a virtual HPV info session with nurses to discuss HPV and immunization options (including Gardasil-9) available to students.

Following a brief presentation and questions, you will be encouraged to schedule an appointment with a nurse at the Student Wellness Hub to obtain a prescription for the HPV vaccine.

The event is open to all students who are eligible to use Student Services and have paid the Student Services fee.

Movement for Balance

Remote learning (and living!) takes a toll on our bodies as well as our minds. Join the Student Wellness Hub for a new group movement class taking place on Thursday November 26 & December 3 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. to connect with your body and alleviate stress by channeling it into movement. Combining dynamic and static stretching with body weight exercises that can be done with no equipment and very little space, Movement for Balance, is designed to target the tension areas caused by virtual learning. This class is led by our Kinesiology intern and Peer Health Ambassador team. No prior experience needed!

Quarantine Support Group

Have you been instructed to self-isolate for 14 days by Public Health or the Canada Border Services Agency? Are you feeling isolated while you quarantine? Has your mental health been impacted by the confinement? This online support group is an opportunity to come together, share what you’ve been going through, and receive support. Open to all McGill students who have recently arrived in Canada and are under the 14 day mandatory quarantine order and/or who have been instructed to self-isolate by a Public Health authority. Participants are welcome to attend any or all sessions while they self-isolate. Please register at least 60 minutes prior to the start time of a session in order to receive the invitation to the online meeting.
