Advising Services - Degree adviser & OASIS

Meeting with an Advisor

Booking an appointment:

  • The Arts OASIS booking pages are updated regularly with online and in-person appointments (see table below).
  • To check availability, click on the desired service and allow a moment for the calendar to load. Appointments are released daily or weekly, rather than a month in advance. If no available slots appear on the calendar, it means all appointments are currently booked. Please check back in a few days, as new appointments are generally released every few days.
  • Online appointments are via MS Teams. Book using your McGill email account to receive a confirmation email with the link to the online appointment.
  • If you are unable to attend a scheduled meeting, cancel or reschedule it, so as to free the time for another student.
  • Book your appointment with your assigned advisor (if known; the name of your advisor may be listed at the top of your transcript).
  • Book a single appointment; follow-up appointments are available if necessary.

Attending your appointment:

  • Be present. Arts OASIS will terminate appointments where AI assistants or third-party applications are being used on your behalf, or with you.
  • Be prepared! Research our website and/or the program calendar and prepare your list of questions.
  • Be punctual.
  • Ensure your audio and video are functioning correctly.
  • Take notes.
  • Respect the duration of your appointment; if necessary, a follow-up meeting can be scheduled.
  • Your appointment is one-on-one with an advisor; parental / third-party participation is discouraged.
  • Your file is confidential; advisors cannot discuss the details of your situation with a parent / third party present.
  • The discussion and exchange of information is solely between you and your advisor.
  • Should you permit a parent / third party to remain in your meeting, they may attend as a silent participant only.
