Current Research Interests: Dr. Nguyen’s research in Medical Education has two main focuses: 1) effective uses of simulation-based medical education for technical and non-technical skill development, and 2) unintended consequences of assessment systems. For the latter, Dr. Nguyen is interested in how current systems of assessment (i.e. residency selection processes) can have unanticipated downstream effects, both positive and negative, on a variety of potential stakeholders, and how these consequences can undermine the purposes of assessment.
