Pause for Paws: Supporting Companion Animals’ Needs and Well-Being (Online)
Friday, October 24, 2025 11:00to11:45
Offered by the Health and Wellness Program as part of the 15th Annual Health and Wellness Fair in collaboration with SPCA Montreal
At the heart of animal well-being is understanding and respecting the needs of our dogs, cats, and small animals. This session will explore the essentials of companion animal care - from positive reinforcement training to daily enrichment and species-specific needs.
When animals’ needs are met, they thrive. And when they thrive, we as humans also benefit: research shows that living alongside animals helps us stay present, fosters compassion, and deepens our connection to the natural world.
Participants will leave with:
- Practical tips for supporting the physical, emotional, and behavioural needs of companion animals
 - Insight into how animal well-being contributes to human well-being and connectedness
 - Ideas on how to get involved with animal welfare initiatives — from volunteering to fundraising — to make a positive impact in your community
