FAQ on oral defences

When do in-person oral defences resume?

Students can defend in-person as of September 1st 2021.

What are the health and safety guidelines in place?

What if a student or committee member has symptoms of Covid-19?

The Unit can choose to hold the defence remotely or in hybrid form, or it can be cancelled.

Are there resources for units planning online or hybrid defences?

Can GPS host a Zoom defence on behalf of the Unit?

No.

What if we encounter technical difficulties during the defence?

Should the Unit require technical assistance, they are encouraged to contact the IT Services Service Desk at 514-398-3398. If technical difficulties prevent a student from defending their thesis or affect a member’s attendance or ability to evaluate the defence, please contact thesis.gps [at] mcgill.ca immediately.
