 Several current and former McGill composition students awarded in the 2013 edition of the SOCAN Foundation Awards for Young Composers.

Ashkan Behzadi (BMus, 2011) studied with Chris Paul Harman and Brian Cherney
-Second Prize, Sir Ernest MacMillan Awards

Taylor Brook (MMus, 2010) studied with Brian Cherney
-Second Prize (tie), Serge Garant Awards

Marielle Groven (MMus, 2009) studied with Brian Cherney
-First Prize, Serge Garant Awards
-John Weinzweig Grand Prize (for best overall work)

Alec Hall (BMus, 2007) studied with Denys Bouliane and Christoph Neidhöfer
-Second Prize (tie), Serge Garant Awards

James O'Callaghan (MMus, current) studies with Philippe Leroux
-First Prize, Hugh Le Caine Awards
